Kick-Start to an ultimate football frenzy

How will you say ‘It Is Time’, in Sotho, which is one of the 11 accepted South African languages. Don’t know? Well, you will say, Ke Nako.
A month long football World Cup that is actually the leading sports extravaganza would be starting in South Africa on Friday. It has happened for the first time in the history of Olympics, that the event is being organized in Africa.
South Africa is known as one of the most colorful countries all over the globe. However, this event would be the largest, nosiest and the most colorful festivity that the South African’s are going to host with nearly half a million spectators who would visit the country from worldwide to watch the games.

The country is in full high spirits. People on the road are blowing vuvuzelas that are horns made from plastic which have now become the symbol of the World Cup. Shopkeepers are selling flags. The Soccer city is virtually getting covered with spit and polish, where Mexico is going to play a match against the hosts on the very first day of the event. The weather remained fine; Nelson Mandela will attend the event, his grandson Mandla said
South Africa hopes that for the next one month the world would talk about Messi, Kaka and Ronaldo rather than crime, unemployment and AIDS.
A word of caution about being away from unlawful actions as well as requests to help the weak, are doing rounds on the FM radio stations.

Several questions are popping up in mind. Will this winter be a season of dissatisfaction for Diego Maradona or will he join Franz Beckenbauer and Mario Zagallo in an elite club, that is of World Cup winners as captain and coach? Or will Dunga do that?

Will England be able to remove the curse of loosing from the past 44 years under the guidance of an Italian coach? Will Fabio Cannavaro be the first captain to lift the gold statuette that travels in a Luis Vuitton case twice in succession? Will any of the teams of African go ahead of quarter-finals?

From July 11, 10 venues and 64 matches would give all the answers.

The local media has reported that South Africa has spent an amount of 33 billion rand which is about Rs. 20,000 crore in the infrastructure related World Cup. Although all this has happened on a much nigger scale but the people in Delhi should be aware that new stadiums have been built, old ones renovated and the transportation system that includes a high-speed train and a new bus system has been upgraded for 19 billion rand that is about Rs. 11,500 crore.

The world’s top football organization, FIFA, claims that between 2006-10, the World Cup will add 55.7 billion rand which us around Rs 33,800 crore to the economy of South Africa.

“It will be a uniting factor for the nation,” said Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla. He, who is also the head of the Mvezo village which is also the birth place of the anti-apartheid guru.

Patrick Vieira, who is a World Cup and European championship winner with France, on Thursday morning said, “South Africa will benefit but the effects of this World Cup will be felt by all of Africa.”

This is not only football for South Africa. They have made sure that they have made the best arrangements and would be wonderful hosts.

Between each World Cup, the time period of three years and 11 months when India is in the grip of cricket, they would also get into the mood of enjoying football for the next one month. India like other 172 countries who were not eligible, will sit back with a beer and enjoy”, as a former England coach said in a different context.

Are you looking for car loans? then first read this news

Most people consider the owner ship of car a birthright. A lot of lenders also thinks the same way. Nowadays, people can easily get car loan. This include those people also who maintains bad credit or no credit history. But there are few things that need to be considered.

Applying for car loans with bad credit means that you will be paying a higher rate of interest. One of the solution to bring the interest rate down is to have a co-signer. He/she is the person who will be willing to assume your payments in case you are declared as defaulter.

Other matters that influence interest rates on car loans include the amount of loan, the lending terms(Number of months), your credit history or rating, your income to debt ratio(that determines your ability to repay) as well as the trends in the market.

The main requirements for getting car loans are:

  • A minimum of gross income as per the terms and conditions if your credit score is low.

  • There must be no bankruptcies.

  • Within the last year there can be no repossessions.

  • You must have attained 18 years of age.

Any vehicle can be purchased by you that comes within the loan amount as well as your approval terms. In certain cases vehicles could not be approved for car loan due to the age or type of the car or the vehicles considered of obsolete type. The collateral for the loan is the value of the vehicle. The lender need to consider the vehicle as though they owned it. It may not be a good choice, if parts are not available for it.

While doing the budgeting for your monthly car payment, do not forget to include the insurance cost. Your lender may require a minimum of coverage that depend on the model and make. Some lenders generally offer the insurance, but getting insurance your own could save you some money.

You need to assure that you are serious about purchasing vehicle. Do not apply for credit with the mentality of "just to see" and get quality. Do not apply from multiple lenders. This could affect your credit score in case any of them turn you down.

You need to be flexible and sensible to the amount that could be manageable.

22th Anniversary Of Hubble Telescope Launch By NASA

Two decades earlier, the Hubble Space telescope was deployed into the orbit by the Space shuttle Discovery. The launch of discovery spacecraft was made from the Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. Steven Hawley is one among the five astronauts of this space mission. He told the Eric Berger about his space mission at the University of Kansas.

Q: How technically challenging was the Hubble launch?
A: Some technical aspects were present in this mission. The altitude was difficult. For deployment of Hubble telescope, we required low altitude. We flew the spacecraft at higher altitude. When we reached the desired altitude level, we released the telescope from the space shuttle. Hence it was put into the orbit. The newly placed telescope will have 3 years life span. After the completion of this period, we need another space mission for servicing the telescope in the orbit. If you release the telescope below the desired altitude level, orbital drag would place it at lower orbit more rapidly. In that case, we would have required frequent servicing missions. This might have completely demolished the significance of this mission.

Q: When this mission was being carried out, did you think this launch was going to revolutionize astronomy, or it was just another instrument?
A: I was obviously thinking that, this mission was going to be most amazing astronomical event. I also was thinking about all the individuals, who were associated in making of the Hubble telescope.

Q: Did you wanted to be sure that you did not mess up all careers of this space mission.
A: Yes I wanted that for all the people associated with the development of this telescope and the commitment, we had with this mission. We obviously wanted things not be messed up.

Q: Did you anticipate the mirror problem on orbit or it cropped up later?
A: It cropped up after one month of deployment of Hubble telescope into the space. We discovered this problem, when we were conducting start up tests and trying to refine the focus.

Q: What was your reaction when you heard about this problem?
A: It was not good event. It was unclear, what reasons has caused creation of this problem. Probably it may be due to compromise with the actual performance objectives of the Hubble telescope. In summary, if the mirror problem was not fixed, still the telescope would have excellent sensitivity and resolution. With bad mirror, you could not get sensitivity and resolution with accurate precision. I think that nobody would have looked into this aspect.

Q: Are you surprised on the better functioning of the telescope even after 20 years?
A: I am not totally surprised. The Hubble launch and thereafter, periodic service missions has ensured that the telescope is able to perform with its actual level. We also added new sophisticated technology with every servicing of the telescope. However, I did not know how effective these new technologies would be. Probably, the instruments we added into the telescope during this period, is performing better than my anticipation. So we are getting better results from the telescope.
