Flights operations in UK halted at Heathrow and Stansted after Iceland volcano


According to the latest reports, all flights to or from Heathrow and Stansted airports of London.

In the meantime, Economy airline Ryanair announced that from today 9am onwards, no flights would operate in or out of UK. Flight operation may remain suspended on tomorrow also.

Air passengers going for holiday journeys, faced severe harassment when they arrived at t airports.

Highlands and Islands Airports told that no flights were operational to and from its Hebrides, Orkney, Shetland, Inverness and Dundee airports because of ash. The airport authority on its online site asked the passengers to contact their airline.
Flights remained cancelled till 3 pm also at Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire.

According to the press statements of BAA Scotland Donald Morrison, the volcanic ash posed a great threat to airoplane in Scottish airspace. So both NATS and the Met Office have decided to cancel all inbound and outbound flights at Scotland as a precautionary measure.

Passengers are obviously being affected about the situation. According to Airport authority, they understand the problems being faced by the passengers but little can be done to control the situation. Smooth operation of flights cannot be made during bad weather.
The airport authority further advised the passengers for not going to the airports. All aircrafts will not ply to and from Scotland till further announcement.

57 years aged Dave Walker, who works in the RAF and hails from Elgin, Moray, was also one of the such affected passengers. He was going to Lanzarote along with his wife and four children. When he arrived at Glasgow Airport, he was told that airport was closed. Dave walker told that they will have to spend night in a hotel as flight operation may resume only from tomorrow onwards.
